The Raton Range
On a quiet Sunday morning in downtown Raton, something familiar returned: people gathering together in prayer.
For many residents, the sight was a reminder that communities are not rebuilt only through new businesses, new events or new projects. They are rebuilt through people coming together.
In recent months, Raton has seen several signs of renewed community energy, from the return of The Raton Range, the reopening of All Seasons Family Restaurant, and faith gatherings bringing people together throughout the community.
For members of Mesa Church, that mission has been part of their story since the beginning.
Mesa Church was founded in 2018 by Pastors Joshua and Patricia Duran. The church started in a storefront on First Street with a group of young people before growing into one of the stronger congregations in Colfax County.
The church’s focus remains centered on evangelism, discipleship, and the Great Commission.
Sunday’s gathering was another example of neighbors coming together, sharing faith and building connections.
Across Raton, many residents are asking the same question: Is the community beginning a comeback?
Maybe the answer is not found in one single event.
Maybe it is found in the small moments.
A restaurant opening its doors again.
A newspaper returning to tell the stories of its neighbors.
A church gathering people together.
A community deciding it still believes in itself.
Raton’s future will be built by the people who continue to show up.
Hats of to the Mesa Church family. You guys rock!
