MAXWELL, N.M. — The Colfax County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a Maxwell man following an investigation into allegations involving child sexual exploitation material.
According to a Sept. 11 news release from the sheriff’s office, investigators opened the case in June after allegations of possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material originating in Colfax County.
The sheriff’s office said investigators executed a search warrant June 18 and seized evidence they say was consistent with the offenses under investigation.
Authorities said Cameron Ogletree of Maxwell was arrested Sept. 11 on an arrest warrant without incident.
Ogletree faces charges of one count of possession of a visual medium of sexual exploitation of a child under 13 and one count of distribution of a visual medium of sexual exploitation of children by solicitation, according to the sheriff’s office.
Officials said Ogletree was transported to the Vigil-Maldonado Detention Center in Raton, where he was booked and remains held pending judicial proceedings. The sheriff’s office also said he faces separate charges connected to an October 2025 case.
The Colfax County Sheriff’s Office said it continues working with local, state, and federal partners on investigations involving crimes against children.
As with any criminal case, charges are allegations, and Ogletree is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
